Country Oaks School continues to provide positive learning experiences for young children and families for over 35 years. We are proud to be one of the first pre-schools in Northern California to be accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children in 1986.
Country Oaks School adheres to Community Care licensing requirements for all hiring practices, including but not limtied to, education and clear criminal background check. In addition, we only hire teachers with strong early childhood educational backgrounds and experience. We attribute the success of Country Oaks School to our dedication, tradition and quality.
Co-Founder and Director
Angie Williams, born and raised in East Sacramento, is the oldest of four siblings. In 1962, she received her Bachelor's degree in Education from California State University Sacramento with an emphasis in Kindergarten/Primary Education with minors in art and art history. She taught in the San Juan Unified School District for 17 years as a kindergarten teacher instrumental in developing the Head Start programs within the district. She went on to develop and direct a Parent Co-op Nursery School for SJUSD emphasizing positive parenting skills with a developmentally appropriate school environment for children ages three to five years of age. In 1979, she cofounded Country Oaks School with her sister, Gilder Caplan. Angie has been the Country Oaks School co-owner and director for 36 years. She is married to her college sweetheart and has two grown children and seven grandchildren, all of whom have attended Country Oaks School. Her daughter has been teaching the Transitional Kindergarten program for 16 years.

Gilder Caplan, born and raised in East Sacramento, is third born of four siblings. In 1969, she received her Bachelor's degree in Sociology from California State University Sacramento. She taught kindergarten in the Sacramento Unified School District for five years, before taking time off to raise her two young sons. When her youngest son was old enough to attend preschool she couldn't find the right program for him that adhered to her early childhood educational philosophy. It was at this time that she and her sister, Angie Williams, cofounded Country Oaks School, where her youngest son attended and became part of the first class of young children to learn and grow within the Country Oaks School environment. Gilder has been the Country Oaks School co-owner and director for 36 years. Gilder is married to her high school sweetheart has two grown sons and four grandchildren. Her husband is a retired teacher and administrator. Her oldest son currently teaches sixth grade.
Many of our teachers have been effective educators with Country Oaks School for as long as 20 years. Our long term, highly qualified team of teachers continue to share their outstanding early childhood educational abilities with creativity and commitment. Our team works together assisting in the development of appropriate curriculum and enrichment to each child's developmental level of growth. Their dedication to early childhood education and experience as a team continues to positively influence young children and families to learn and grow.
